Move on Housing provides Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEA) within exempt qualified, registered shared homes across North and West Birmingham and Solihull.
Applicants will need to be eligible for SEA, i.e. cannot otherwise live independently without an aspect of support (as defined in Housing Benefit terminology for Care, Support or Supervision- CSS).
Registered exempt properties enable us to offer a higher level of support to residents, through a package of support and intensive housing management, via enhanced Housing Benefit awards.
Residents will need to make a personal contribution towards the ineligible aspects of their costs and must commit to actively work with our support team to pursue jointly agreed goals and outcomes within their jointly agreed support plans.
Who do we work with?
Move on Housing has specific experience and professional practise with helping people recently involved in Criminal Justice processes. We also operate separate provision for young people not being able to remain in family settings, offering safe transition into early adulthood and towards independent living.
We work closely with:
- Police, Probation & HMP establishments
- Youth hubs including St. Basil’s youth charity
- Local authorities
- Housing teams
- Support services
- Health and social care professionals
- Community organisations
Considered, safe and sensitive placement
We commit to carrying out a manager review of each referral and will respond with full feedback within 24 hours. Should we not be able to offer we will explain the reasons why.
We will ensure placements are safe and do our best to place residents into homes that we feel would enable the applicant and existing residents to thrive. Safeguarding and positive placements for all concerned will be the sole consideration, we commit to never taking on anyone regardless, just to fill vacancies.
How do I refer?
Often the services that we receive our applications from have a existing ways of making referrals, such as Regional Accommodation Referral Form (RARF).
We remain flexible to the method of referral, as long as it provides information for us to make safe and hopefully successful placements.
Whilst we principally operate via third party support agency referrals, we can on occasions offer a triage process for assessment for self referrals, although for integrity of support need assessment it may be more suitable for client’s to access our services via recognised homeless referral routes (i.e. Sifa Fireside, St. Basil’s, Housing Options Centres HOC, Shelter, etc.)
